Misha B performs for students at North Liverpool Academy

X-Factor’s Misha B performed for NLA students as part of a tour to promote her new single ‘Home Run’.

Misha B, performed a number of tracks for year 7 and 8 students before taking time to sign autographs and pose for photographs!

Misha addressed year 7 and 8 and talked about this terms GEM – ‘risk taking’ and the importance of focusing in school. Misha also promoted the Academy’s Pink and Powerful event in aid of Breast Cancer Care – encouraging students to buy tickets today!

Pink and Powerful will take place on Thursday 17th May 2012. 6-8pm. Tickets are £2 and available from Students Services/Reception.

Young Entrepreneurs support Breast Cancer Care

Young people from North Liverpool Academy have come together to organise an event called Pink and Powerful in support of Breast Cancer Care. The event that will take place at North Liverpool Academy on Thursday, the 17th of May between 6-8pm and will celebrate the achievements of young entrepreneurs from across Merseyside with an evening of girly fun.

Local Entrepreneurs and students of the academy will support Breast Cancer Care through the sale of their products or services alongside a catwalk of items from local dressmakers and vintage boutiques. Local entrepreneurs and businesses such as: Tiggy’s Cupcakes, Purlesque, Plum Sugar and members from the Social Enterprise Network will be among the supporters of the event by showcasing their businesses with interactive market style stalls and donating proceeds to Breast Cancer Care. Year 7 Students Visit University of Liverpool

On Wednesday, 18th April, sixty Year 7 students attended a one day visit to the University of Liverpool. The event was arranged so that the young people could see the university firsthand and learn more about student life, also to give them the motivation to push themselves towards higher education.

The event involved a series of sessions designed by the Educational Opportunities Team and delivered by University of Liverpool Graduate and Student Advocates. Graduate and Student Advocates are all current University students, or have recently graduated, and so can speak from recent experience about their time in higher education and can act as role models to the visiting students.
